Small Bathroom, Big Dreams.

Small Bathroom Remodel

We’re remodeling our Master Bathroom!

If you don’t know, my background is in Interior Design & I have missed it so much since becoming a graphic designer. When our gross old shower started leaking and was quickly being overtaken by some nasty black mold, we said ENOUGH! Now we are smack dab in the middle of a long demo process, which is crazy because our “master” bathroom is teeny tiny.

Clearly I have been out of the interiors game for too long because I was thinking with its small size, the bathroom could be completely overhauled in 10 days. That was 2 weeks ago and we are still a good 2-3 weeks away from any of the “fun” stuff.

GAH!

I’m so impatient!

To kill some time, I’ve decided to share some of my favorite inspirations for this project.

Bathroom Inspiration

1. DesignSponge  |  2. HouseBeautiful  |  3. Remodelista

This first image is my all-time favorite Pin. The dark walls, the pigeon paintings (I made my own because of this image months ago), the gallery style, the fun rug. I just love it all. I’m obsessed with the combo of classic subway tile and the dark walls in the second image. So dramatic. And the sink in the third image is TO DIE FOR! Unfortunately, it’s also $700…

But I will be doing a wall mount sink similar to the one in image 2, just a bit cheaper I’m sure. And we already bought white subway tile for the shower walls and PENNY TILE for the shower floor-penny tile is something I’ve wanted FOREVER!

The shower curb will be in carrera marble for a fun accent and we chose paint in MINTOAUR from Behr. It’s dark and moody- just like me every morning since we started the remodel.

I’m going with wire type shelves and fun light switch covers, hooks, etc. I went to Cost Plus World Market the other day and Matt had to drag me out before I bought everything they had. That place is dangerous!

I did find a faucet that I’m pretty head over heels for right here. It’s the perfect combination of industrial and retro and dark and light and everything else I love!

Since upgrading the whole shower, including a new glass door, eats up most of our budget, I have to be creative where I can. Instead of buying a new light fixture (even though I’m in love with this one), I’m going to take a cue from Bless’er House and attempt to paint our gross, outdated one and use Edison bulbs to spruce it up.

My best friend called me the other day and said she found a mirror for me to repaint at Goodwill. It was a whopping $12 and since she wouldn’t let me pay her back (did I mention she’s my best friend!), I’m going to get a brand new mirror for the small cost of a can of spray paint.

Stay tuned for those DIY projects and more progress on my Bathroom on a Budget!

PS. I am absolutely crazy for this Dark Floral Wallpaper from Ellie Cashman. I would pretty much have it on every wall in my house. I could literally live in this. It is the same print as my soul. However, in keeping costs down, I had to resist. but ONE DAY, Ellie Cashman, ONE DAY…

  1. I love the idea of the dark walls and/or wallpaper & what a perfect space to try that out! Can’t wait to see the final result- maybe you should invite me over for a bathroom warming party?!
