Oh hey y’all. (If I knew how to read my analytics report, I could probably refer to all 12 of you by name)
If you follow me on Instagram — and I’m guessing you do because how on earth would you ever find this site otherwise! I’m illiterate in SEO — you’ve probably heard that I’m trying to rebrand Design Squeeze. Or just brand, because let’s face it, I never really got around to that in the first place.
My best friend JUST got married in a beautiful bohemian wedding. Gosh it was like only yesterday. I mean, March 19th is pretty much April, which really just flew into May and then did June even happen this year? And July barely started, so I’m right on track to post about her wedding. I’m surprised it didn’t take me longer, actually.
I’m like such a good friend.
But let’s stop gushing about me. This post is all about Ali’s BOHO BASH of a wedding. It was obviously the most beautiful wedding I’ve ever been to. Not just because she’s my bestie. The girl has great taste.
She also has great connections. Amongst her talented group of gal pals is a graphic designer & calligrapher extraordinaire (ME! Haha I come first because this is MY blog), an insanely talented interior designer PLUS another soon-to-be-interior-designer, an aspiring wedding planner & cake boss, AND one of the bridesmaids hooked us all up with a professional stylist!
It was on point. Have a peek:
The wedding took place at the Phoenix Zoo, which was such a fun venue. The reception area overlooked the giant giraffe exhibit, so the view was incredible, we could pretend we were all on safari and it felt super VIP to be drinking at the zoo after hours.
Now whenever I return to the giraffes, I get flashbacks of drunken dancing with some of the best people I know. That’s what everyone should leave a wedding with. Forget favors. I want memories!
Just kidding. Her favors were actually really awesome. And I love presents. I don’t have a picture of them but she chose mexican tiles with beautiful patterns and we tied hand painted place cards to each.
The decor was primarily DIY-which was awesome. We went thrifting starting the year before and found all kinds of gem colored glasses & vases and vintage books with beautiful covers. There was lots of lace detail as well and baby’s breath-which is one of my all-time favorite flowers.
It really was such a beautiful, bohemian wedding. It all just came together perfectly.
Ok now I’m back in full wedding fever mode…eeeeek!

Happy Monday, Everybunny! Hope y’all had a great Easter yesterday. I spent the morning celebrating with my nephew, Rex. So yea, it was the BEST.
But then I woke up today with the WORST case of Monday Blues. Ugh. I love design and being a graphic designer is a pretty cool gig. BUT I don’t love a 30 minute commute that results in sitting in this open room, surrounded by people, staring at my computer screen for 8 hours a day with a total of ZERO privacy and very bad posture.
Ok, the posture is my fault. But having no privacy ALL DAY makes the introvert in me wanna crawl into a ball and hide. I feel like a lil kid who closes his eyes and thinks no one can see him. Maybe if I slouch enough, people will think I’m not there!
Buuuuuuuut, I am there. I’m always there. And I’ve realized over the past 2 years of doing this 9-5 life, that being a designer is not enough for me. I have to be a designer of things that make me happy. Things that I’m passionate about. At a place that makes me feel inspired.
It’s taken me quite a bit of time to get back into the swing of things after having TWO short work weeks in a row, thanks to the holidays. Let’s be real-I’m still not back 100% but I’m trying PEOPLE!
Anyway, I can’t say that I’m a fan of New Year’s Resolutions. I really don’t know anyone who has ever kept one, and I am pretty deficient in will power. So this year, I didn’t even PRETEND to make one. Especially the usual ones-like Oh now I’m gonna get all fit & go on a juice cleanse. I actually did that 2 years ago and it was a LIVING NIGHTMARE. I lasted 4 days.
My very best friend in the world got engaged recently-which is awesome! There’s nothing better than LOVE! The news has me getting into the wedding vibe pretty hard. I’m pinning all kinds of dresses, flowers, decor, etc. and there’s just SO MUCH to pin.
It can be overwhelming to actually begin to see what getting married “requires.” Aside from just the WEDDING ITSELF, there’s parties and showers galore. It’s easy to see why more and more couples are opting out of big, traditional weddings these days.
For instance, a friend of mine got engaged last year and was so stressed about planning the Big Day over the course of many months, she finally just said ENOUGH! They went to the courthouse one Saturday and met some friends out for drinks afterward. It was sweet, stress-free and she doesn’t regret a thing. Now they’re using the money that was supposed to go to their wedding on a HONEYMOON in MOROCCO!
Hope you love coffee as much as I do. If not, you should probably keep browsing for blogs more your speed because Design Squeeze is fully caffeinated at ALL TIMES!
Or you could simply switch it up and create a nice lil tea bar for yourself. If you don’t like tea either then I SERIOUSLY CANNOT HELP YOU!
Now, on to the good stuff. Coffee is one of those things that I cherish dearly in my life. It doesn’t matter what kind or where it’s from. As long as it’s strong and hot, I will down a few cups no problem. I prefer to drink my coffee black in the morning. I’ve never had much of a sweet tooth, so all of those sugary creamers can go away. Plus, I’m pretty sure they are only one molecule away from being plastic. With that said, I don’t mind a splash of almond milk once in a while but probably not til my second cup. Something about black coffee first thing in the morning…
